What do you think when you hear “Shakespeare”?
Have you always wanted to work on Shakespeare but felt intimidated? “It’s only for fancy actors from England”
Have you tried to work on Shakespeare before but the language seemed too difficult?
Are you nursing any Shakespeare scars?
It may come as a surprise, but we are all uniquely suited to understand Shakespeare – come and see why!
In this class you will learn:
The physical and vocal warmup you need to speak Shakespeare’s text so that you can find your way into role and story
Exercises that help you understand and play Shakespeare so you can pick up classical text without fear
How to release yourself from preconceived ideas (and academic traumas!) so you can be fully present with the text
How to cut through confusion when reading classical texts so you can see that Shakespeare has laid it all out for you
How the actual challenges of speaking Shakespeare will help you in all of your work as an actor - including film and tv
Benefits of the Patsy Rodenburg method:
Having full access to your body, breath, and voice
Connecting deeply to text with ease
Being in your natural presence
