I first met Danielle Guldin back in 2013. She had been going to other workshop companies for quite some time but was going nowhere fast. Without any guidance or understanding of who she was and what she was selling, Danielle had made something up that she thought would appease the industry. It wasn't working. It seemed right perhaps on the surface but ultimately it wasn't authentic. To become a working actor everything must be in sync - from the inside and out and from the outside in. Frustrated and at her wits end, Danielle sat down with me for a Career Consultation.
"I struggled as an actor for years in NYC and did indeed blow lots of money on workshops promising the benefit of personal relationships with the cities top industry players, only to find myself broke and still unemployed in my craft. For those reasons, I was reluctant to try The Actor's Green Room, but when I finally did, my entire career began changing RAPIDLY for the better right before my very eyes." - Danielle Guldin
Danielle quickly realized that she had been branding herself all wrong. I told her that she was the "tough, pretty chick," due to her background in both the U.S. Marine Corps and as a cheerleader in the NFL. I told her to concentrate on roles like the young detective, hacker, young cadet, etc. I suggested that because of her look that she could be interpreted as Eastern European meaning she should open herself up to ethically ambigious roles, like Ukranian, Russian, and Albanian, as well. Danielle and I laid out a trajectory for her and off she went. She started working with casting directors at AGR and honing her craft and developing relationships with casting directors. At our Manager Night, Danielle caught the attention of Jenevieve Brewer who ended up signing her. Although Danielle didn't have a thick resume, she was a solid "type" and most importantly knew exactly who she was and had iron clad relationships ins place making her a viable developmental project for a manager. Within a month, Danielle booked the role of 'Megi Dervishi,' an Albanian Mob Wife, on CBS's UNFORGETTABLE and a Detective Co-Star role on NBC's LAW & ORDER: SVU. Both roles were in line with what we nailed down. From there, Danielle booked a role on FOX's GOTHAM followed by a slew of independent films. (THE OPPOSITE SEX starring Mena Suvari, KARMA ROAD starring Manini Gupta and more)
Along the way, Danielle began the auditioning process for the lead of "Emily" in the feature film ALMOST MERCY. Emily just so happened to be the unexpected weapons-wielding heroine of the script. Since taking my advice to heart when I first offered it, Danielle felt super comfortable with her natural abilities while auditioning, and her confidence completely won-over the casting office and the director of the film. She booked the role.
Today, ALMOST MERCY is available to over 100,000,000 people worldwide, via Verizon FIOS On-Demand,
ITunes, Google Play, Amazon Instant Video, Sony Network, Vudu, Blinkbox, Mediacom, and loads of local providers as well. In addition, it is coming to Netflix in July.
Here are some of the great reviews that have been rolling in:
Danielle also just booked a Coffee Mate commercial through Jenevieve Brewer.
"Jenevieve had my back throughout the entire filming process last year and has been a lifeline in helping me grow and develop ever since we began working together." - Danielle Guldin
Although this business is extremely competitive, there is always a way in. You just have to find out what your key is to open your own personal door. Once you find it, you have to be precise and en pointe and keep turning with an intention. It eventually will open.
