She began her acting training as a young girl under the guidance of Emmy award-winning director Joan Darling. Later, she continued her training at The New Actors Workshop, studying acting with George Morrison, who taught techniques that specifically addressed the needs of an actor working on film (his students include Edie Falco, Stanley Tucci, and Dustin Hoffman).
