Do you have have trouble feeling free in the space? Have you ever been told "make strong choices" "don't anticipate"or "try to work in the moment?" Then this class is just for you.
This 3 week course will teach you to use improvisation to enhance your text and performance as actors. Here you will learn the tools necessary to be true to the written material while still being free and working off your scene partner or reader. Each class will start with an improv warm up to free up your mind and get you out of your head then we will work one aspect of scene work by doing improv exercises and applying them to your acting.

Week 1: Building Character
This class focuses on how to build a solid character with strong choices based of the circumstances given to you. It will teach you how to make and use point of view to your advantage in a scene.
Week 2: Strong Environments & Working With Your Reader
This class focuses on building a strong environment and being true to that space in your work. It will give you the tools to transform the space and incorporate that into your behavior. It will also focus on how to work off your scene partner or reader while being true to the choices you've made.
Week 3: Bringing Improv to Your Text & Auditions
The focus of this class will be to use the lessons of the previous classes on text provided in the class. This class will help you clue in on details from the text and make stronger deeper choices from it. It will also deal with making different choices in the moment and handling "hiccups" that may happen when you are auditioning.
Ages 16 and up are welcome!
We do not offer refunds but we do offer credit. In order to receive a credit for a class, event, or intensive cancellations must be made up to 7 days in advance. To cancel a booking please log in to your account , click on "View Bookings," and select the class event or intensive you would like to cancel. You will see the "cancel booking" option below. A credit for the amount paid will be issued back to your AGR account within 24 hours and can be used towards future bookings.
If you cancel within 7 days of the class, event, or intensive due to sickness orindustry related work, we require a doctor's note or proof of work in order to issue a credit. If you cancel within 24 hours of the class, event, or intensive and/or are a no-show then no credit will be issued under any circumstances.
Kim Ramirez has been working alongside NY's top casting director at the Actor's Green Room for over 7 years in which she has cultivated the knowledge and eye for what the casting directors are looking for in the audition room. Before working at the Actor's Green Room, she held workshops and taught acting classes for teens at Ronald Reagan High School in San Antonio, as well as teaching acting and improv for kids in Hendersonville, North Carolina. In New York, she coaches actors on "On-Camera" work and using improv on camera. She has a B.F.A. from the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she studied under Gerald Freedman, Robert Francesconi, Caroline Kava, and Mary Irwin. She continued her studies her in New York at Primary Stages as well as completed the all levels of improv at the Upright Citizen's Brigade.
